Gintel
Established November 16, 2001:
The Telenor R&I environment in Trondheim has for a number of years been
developing and delivering intelligent network platforms – components and advanced
services for production in the telecom network, including products for landline/mobile
network integration, integration of third-party solutions and advanced call
handling, e.g. tools for the distribution of call centres. The products are
mainly developed on assignment from companies within the Telenor Group. Gintel’s
focus is on two main areas: Consultancy to present and future customers, and
development of tools for advanced services in next generation networks and UMTS,
where we want to compete in an international market. One of Gintel’s major goals
is to be one of the first suppliers of services based on the OSA and Parlay
standards.

partnerships with (IT) companies that wish to supplement their products with
the help of 3D. The technology is primarily aimed at industrial users with network

Xymphonic
Systems AS
Established December 21, 1998:
Xymphonic Systems build their work on patented technology to support
co-ordinated interaction on documents, drawings, technical specifications
or other common resources. The company sells their own software,
components and finished products. In the long term the aim is
also to license the technology to other software suppliers. In
2000 the company’s technology was verified in the building and
testing of a prototype implementation in co-operation with SunLabs
(Sun Microsystems’ research department). The stay at SunLabs also
resulted in three new patent applications.
During the first half of 2001 the company prepared an alpha version of an add-on product for Microsoft Word. The product’s preliminary name is Xymphony for Word and it enables two or more individuals to work on a Word document simultaneously. This may be done without manually weaving together the part documents from the various contributors at the end. This means great gains in productivity for companies that produce documents written by several authors, e.g. bids for tender, technical specifications, legal documents, research reports, surveys and annual reports. Xymphony for Word will start beta-testing during autumn 2001.

Telenor Installation. Telenor R&I’s role in this establishment was to contribute
