A project manager for product and network development in Telenor Norway, I am responsible for the strategic direction of the projects, and analyzing and planning the case. I have worked on several interesting projects since the start of my career in Telenor Norway in 2002. Right now I am responsible for launching the LTE or 4G network in Norway. This is a massive project, with some 250 people working hard so that Norwegians can enjoy the bliss of 4G by 2012. The 4G launch would mean three years of work together.

To succeed as a team! When we do there is this flawless  synergy amongst the group. We work together towards a goal, across several specialized fields both internally and externally and both in my home country and abroad. There are so many different people involved. We learn a lot from each other and at the same time we have so much fun. Laughter and having fun are a very important part of my life at Telenor.

My inspiration comes from seeing bright  ideas come through, believing in them, and then getting on with materializing them. Being a project manager has similarities to being an entrepreneur; creating an idea, getting it out quickly on the market, and realizing the project. There’s a lot of punch, and I love that.

And I most mention that I like playing with modern technology. We are developing telecom services that people will benefit from in the future – and hopefully these services will make their lives easier. That’s our goal. I enjoy creating value through technology.

I clearly remember when I first came to the head office at Fornebu. I was totally blown away by the modern, almost futuristic buildings surrounded by the fiord. The open offices, all the great restaurants and cafés and the art that is so creatively incorporated all over, makes a unique and fantastic atmosphere. It really contributes to an innovative and creative work space.

I have always put myself in positions where I challenge myself and I have a continuous progression in my career. I started out as a system developer and moved up to a project manager level. The reason I became a project manager is because I had a dream, a project, and the management in Telenor Norway believed in me, and helped me realize it. Now that’s what I call motivating your employees.
