Telenor wins Statoil contract serving 20,000 employees
Telenor has won a contract to serve Statoil as the main provider of communications services to their 20,000 employees. The contract, worth approximately NOK 400 million, will run over four years.

The SpareBank 1 alliance chooses Telenor

Apps get legs as Telenor introduces a global Android Market initiative
In Hong Kong today, Telenor and Google launched a global agreement to stimulate further growth of the Android ecosystem. Telenor's Android users will be able to access a carefully selected and continuously updated suite of relevant apps inside a fixed destination on the front page of Android Market, in a store-in-store concept. Customers will be able to pay for apps via their mobile operator, considered crucial in driving app adoption. Local developers benefit by the increased exposure of their apps and the potential of increased revenues.

Jan Edvard Thygesen appointed Deputy CEO and COO in VimpelCom Ltd.
VimpelCom Ltd. today announced that Mr. Jan Edvard Thygesen is appointed the company's Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and that he will take up the new position from January 1st 2012. Following the announcement, Mr. Thygesen will with immediate effect resign from the position as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Head of the CEE region in Telenor. Mr. Bjørn Magnus Kopperud will be acting head of the CEE region from the same date.

Lars Christian Iuel appointed new CEO of Telenor Pakistan
Telenor Pakistan today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Mr. Lars Christian Iuel (47) as the company's new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He takes up the position on November 1st, succeeding Mr. Christian Albech (64) who will retire after 20 years of service to Telenor.

Third quarter 2011: Strong performance continues
In the third quarter of 2011, Telenor Group reported revenues of NOK 24.6 billion, representing an organic revenue growth of 7%. EBITDA before other items was NOK 8.3 billion, EBITDA margin was 34 per cent, and operating cash flow was NOK 5.5 billion. Telenor's consolidated mobile operations added more than five million subscriptions during the quarter.

New Norwegian record in mobile phone recycling
Sports clubs throughout Norway have so far collected more than 60,000 old mobile phones in a joint initiative with Telenor. The great results have secured more than two million Norwegian Kroner in income for the teams.

Telenor Open Mind celebrates 15 years of valuable work integration
Many people with physical handicaps and immigrant backgrounds meet closed doors in the labour market. Norway's largest work training programme - Telenor Open Mind - on Friday celebrated 15 years of successfully motivating physically handicapped job seekers and help them get ready to take part in working life. Minister of Labour Hanne Bjurstrøm congratulated on the anniversary and noted that three in four who attend the programme end up in ordinary employment.

Pay for coffee with your mobile
Within a few years, the mobile phone will replace bank cards when consumers pay at point-of-sale-terminals. During the next months, around 250 of Telenor's and DnB NOR's customers will be testing the option of paying via mobile. A dozen locations in Oslo are taking part in the test.

Banking the unbanked; mobile financial services may improve the lives of two billion
Mobile financial services may reduce the number of unbanked in Pakistan by 20 per cent by 2020. In India the number of people with formal savings accounts could increase by 142 million. In Bangladesh it could increase tax revenues with US$500 million. And in Serbia it could lead to 23,000 new jobs being created. These are some of the findings in a new study, carried out by Boston Consulting Group on behalf of Telenor Group, exploring the effects of mobile financial services in five markets over the next decade.

Telenor on Thursday handed in a report to the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority where the company informs of the breakdown that affected the mobile network in Norway on Friday 10 June. The report also accounts for measures implemented to prevent similar errors from reoccurring.

Telenor Svalbard celebrates 100 years in the Arctic
Telenor opened its first telegraph station in Svalbard in 1911, and now - after 100 years - Svalbard is probably among the world's most digitalised communities in the world. On Sunday 29 May, the celebration was kicked off by Telenor's chairman Harald Norvik and CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas, opening the world's northernmost 4G/LTE network in Longyearbyen.

Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) has decided to invest in a new expansion satellite. The satellite will be named THOR 7 and is expected to be ready for launch towards the end of 2013 with a lifespan of 15-20 years. The satellite is intended to provide capacity for broadcasting requirements within Central and Eastern Europe and additional capacity for maritime services.

In the fourth quarter of 2010, Telenor Group reported revenues of NOK 24.9 billion, representing an organic revenue growth of eight per cent. EBITDA before other items was NOK 7.2 billion, EBITDA margin was 29 per cent, and operating cash flow margin was 14 per cent. For the full year of 2010, Telenor's revenues was NOK 94.8 billion, EBITDA before other items was NOK 29.2 billion, EBITDA margin was 31 per cent and operating cash flow margin was 19 per cent. Telenor's consolidated mobile operations added close to eight million subscriptions during the fourth quarter and 23 million during the year (1).

Cheaper to call from home phone to mobile
Telenor is launching three new subscriptions featuring new call prices from home phones. It will now be much cheaper to call a mobile number and Telenor is introducing a new subscription which includes call minutes to both mobile and home phones. At the same time, Telenor is keeping the prices low for calls to other home phones.
