Taking the Telenor name

Article:

Pannon and Promonte subscribers have now become Telenor subscribers. For both Pannon of Hungary and Promonte of Montenegro this change is accompanied by new customer offers and improved user experiences.

Bringing the spirit of Telenor to Hungary

“This is about bringing the spirit of Telenor to Hungary in a way that transforms the lives of consumers,” said Anders Jensen, CEO, Telenor Hungary.

Telenor Hungary has made a promise to bring greater value and innovation to customers by better understanding their needs. As a result, Telenor in Hungary now offers all-time low prices, simpler mobile broadband pricing and a series of bold new products and services that will bring greater value to Hungarian consumers.

Simple, smart and affordable products

“We made a promise to our 3.5 million customers and all our employees that 2010 would be defined by far reaching change that enables us to provide simple, smart, affordable products that make customers’ lives easier, especially in the midst of a tough recession. Telenor is the brand that consumers trust to champion needs that have been ignored for too long. Our aim is to become Hungary’s favourite mobile operator,” continued Jensen.

Making fixed lines a thing of the past

The high cost of mobile to fixed line calls is one of the first issues that Telenor Hungary has addressed. By making mobile tariffs the same as fixed line calls, the company predicts a seismic shift in phone habits, as consumers realize they no longer need both fixed and mobile phones.

“The “Telenor way” is to create the future, today. That means ending the era of expensive fixed-line calls, confusing pricing and poor value mobile broadband. By reducing the cost of using mobiles we are making them universal, saving people money while liberating them from the restrictions of cables and wires,” said Jensen.

Connecting Montenegro to the world

By taking the Telenor name, Montenegro’s leading mobile communications provider is now fully integrated with the Telenor global telecommunications network. Telenor Montenegro is now able to offer their customers better, more competitive access to leading-edge services and technologies, including one of the fastest mobile networks in Europe.

“As Promonte, we helped put Montenegro on the map,” said Christopher Laska, CEO, Telenor Montenegro. “As Telenor, we will help connect Montenegro to the world. This is more than changing our name. Today is a major milestone in that process.”

More competitive customer offerings

By positioning itself more clearly as an international brand, the company signalled its intention to deliver a stronger, more competitive offering to customers. “We are proud of what Promonte has achieved, but we must also push to do better for customers. As Telenor we are openly challenging ourselves to set new and higher standards for mobile services in Montenegro,” continued Laska.

The new Telenor Montenegro’s high-speed mobile network now supports download and upload speeds of up to three times faster than previous generation networks, including those currently run by other mobile operators in Montenegro.

In addition, Telenor customers will soon be able to access a suite of new and more competitive international calling, roaming and data services.

There will be no comparison

“Our customers will experience dramatically faster and more responsive network performance, effective immediately” said Mike Michel, Chief Marketing Officer, Telenor Montenegro.”Once our fine-tuning process is completed, there will be no comparison.”

A new era of telecommunications

Both Pannon and Promonte were established in the mid-1990s and are known as pioneers of mobile telecommunications in their respective countries. By adopting the name Telenor, both operators plan to better serve their subscribers with a stronger network, better pricing and more innovative offerings.
