First eco base station opened in Serbia

Telenor has opened its first base station in Serbia, which combines solar and wind energy to power the network.
The base station opened at Pločica in the north-eastern part of Serbia on 16 June, and is the first in a series of Telenor’s green investments in Serbia’s network. This pilot project is carried out by local experts and with full support of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning.
Energy saving cooling system
Apart from installations of solar panels and wind generators on the location, the reduced carbon footprint and increased energy efficiency are also propelled by a special battery cooling system. Batteries are situated in the floor channel, which enables higher temperature in the room, namely reduced working hours of the cooling system.
