Wins mobile content award

Article:

At an arrangement for mobile content suppliers in Monaco last week, Telenor Norway won the prestige Meffy Award as best operator for adapting mobile content to its customers.

Since 2000, MEF (Mobile Entertainment Forum) has comprised more than 150 organisations in the mobile industry, including content suppliers, operators and others.

Last week, during an arrangement in Monte Carlo, Telenor won the Meffy Award for Best Operator. The jury’s main reason for giving the award to Telenor, is the diversity of the mobile entertainment services offered for the Norwegian market.

Anne-Lise Katle, responsible for mobile content in Telenor Norway, received the award on behalf of the company.

The nomination text states:

Success with football service : In April 2006 Telenor launched a football service in cooperation with Norway’s TV2, offering live high-quality streaming and video clips of all goals. In 2007, Telenor and TV2 have improved the service and included separate WAP sites for all the clubs in the Norwegian league.

Success with music service : Telenor gained a first mover advantage with its commercial model for music downloads in 2005. Through effective campaigns and close cooperation with record companies, Telenor distributed 1.2 million full track songs to its 2.3 million customers in two months. In Q1 2007, Telenor became the second biggest legal distributor of digital music in Norway.
