Grameenphone provides easier Internet access

In developing countries many people's only option to use the Internet is through their mobile phones. Grameenphone extends this connectivity by offering web browser on the mobile.
A recent published article in the Wall Street Journal highlights how Grameenphone’s mobile web browser makes Internet access easier. The article points out that technology advancement in mobile Internet will have a particularly big impact in developing countries.
Grameenphone offers web browser on the mobile
Grameenphone, Bangladesh’ largest mobile operator, offers its customers a localised version of Opera Mini, which is a fast and tiny Web browser that allows you to access the Internet on your mobile phone.
Grameenphone’s network today covers about 95 per cent of the Bangladeshi population. The entire network has EDGE or GPRS connectivity allowing mobile Internet access to customers with no alternative Internet facilities.
Roughly 400 000 people in Bangladesh use the software Opera Mini for Web browsing – in contrast, only 370 000 Bangladeshi had wired Internet service as of June 2007
