DTAC listed on Thailand Stock Exchange
Article:
DTAC started trading on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) on Friday 22 June, 2007. It thus became Thailand's very first company with dual listing as it is also listed on the Singaporean Stock Exchange.
“This is a very important day, both for DTAC and for Thailand. DTAC is the largest company to be listed on the SET since 2003. DTAC’s listing will contribute around Baht 100 billion (approx USD 3 billion) to the SET, making DTAC one of the 15 largest companies traded on the Thai exchange,” said Kaaren Hilsen Head of Investor Relations in DTAC.
Welcomed DTAC home
During a ceremony at the SET this morning, DTAC was welcomed home. One thousand excited DTAC employees joined together to celebrate the event.
The people’s IPO
“This is the first people’s IPO in Thailand, and we are very happy with the good results.
The Initial Public Offering was accompanied by an over demand of 3 times, and is thus the largest IPO in Thailand this year. The successful listing of DTAC will positively contribute to the market capitalization of the SET,” said DTAC CEO, Sigve Brekke.
Mobile operator of the year
DTAC was also awarded Mobile Operator of the Year for Thailand for the third consecutive year at the Asian MobileNews Awards 2007 in Singapore earlier this week. Asian MobileNews conducts voting among readers in countries all over Asia to honour telecommunication operators, both manufacturers and service providers. Among the prestigious award categories are Best Mobile Phone Award, Best 3G-Compatible Mobile Phone Award, Best Mobile PDA Award, Best Advertising Campaign Award, Best Marketing Campaign Award and Mobile Operator of the Year for each country in the region.
