Telenor is ranked number one on the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) in mobile telecommunications. Telenor occupies the number one spot ahead of 13 leading mobile operators worldwide.
The indexes rank companies worldwide based on their performance according to economic, environmental and social criteria. This is the first year that Telenor occupies the number one spot and the sixth year in a row that it achieves a world leading position.
Result of long-term commitment
“We are very pleased to receive this recognition for our efforts. We are working hard to secure sustainability in all our operations, and the number one position on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes is the result of a long-term commitment. It is a great encouragement for us as we pursue our goal of empowering people in all our markets – helping them get the full benefit of communications services in their daily lives,” said Group CEO, Jon Fredrik Baksaas.
High score on social contribution
DJSI is tracking sustainability-driven companies all over the world based on the companies’ performance across economic, environmental and social criteria. They focus on how these companies conduct their business. Telenor scored particularly well on social contribution, with 76 per cent, against the sector average of 44 per cent. DJSI recognised Telenor’s continuous efforts for digital inclusion and the positive impact of our telecommunication services on society.
