Record number of used handsets
(15 January, 2007) If put on top of one another, the used phones collected through Pannon's recycling campaign would create a tower higher than Mount Everest.
Pannon provides its customers with discounts for returning used mobile phones for recycling. The initiative was launched in 2006 as part of the "close to nature" programme. In response to its success, Pannon extended its campaign, offering a discount of HUF 5 000 to all customers returning their potentially environmentally harmful used mobile handsets until 31st January, 2007.
The tens of thousands of mobile handsets collected to date will be transferred to professional electronic waste recycling companies for safe disposal. Used phones may be handed in at six Pannon Shops and 220 franchised outlets countrywide.
