Wins mobile content award
(28 June, 2007) At an arrangement for mobile content suppliers in Monaco last week, Telenor Norway won the Meffy Award as best operator for adapting mobile content to its customers.
Since 2000, MEF (Mobile Entertainment Forum) has comprised more than 150 organisations in the mobile industry, including content suppliers, operators and others.
Last week, during an arrangement in Monte Carlo, Telenor won the Meffy Award for Best Operator. The jury's main reason for giving the award to Telenor, is the diversity of the mobile entertainment services offered for the Norwegian market.
The jury praised the user friendliness of the content offered on Telenor's mobile Internet portal, such as music, football and magazines. The jury comprised a broad range of European journalists and analysts.
Innovative and user-friendly
Telenor was nominated for its total drive to make mobile content available to its customers. Before being presented with the award it was stated that Telenor uses its market strength and stamina to offer customers the most innovative, accessible and user-friendly mobile entertainment services. A broad investment in mobile entertainment services for various target groups has given results in 2006 and 2007.
Anne-Lise Katle, responsible for mobile content in Telenor Norway, received the award on behalf of the company.
Success with football service: In April 2006 Telenor launched a football service in cooperation with Norway's TV2, offering live high-quality streaming and video clips of all goals. In 2007, Telenor and TV2 have improved the service and included separate WAP sites for all the clubs in the Norwegian league.
Success with music service: Telenor gained a first mover advantage with its commercial model for music downloads in 2005. Through effective campaigns and close cooperation with record companies, Telenor distributed 1.2 million full track songs to its 2.3 million customers in two months. In Q1 2007, Telenor became the second biggest legal distributor of digital music in Norway.
Success with CPA: In 2006 Telenor's 1.5 million active CPA users (Norwegian population 4,5 million) spent on average approx €35 on mobile entertainment services. All time high CPA Revenues €62.5 Million NOK excl. VAT in 2006.
Success with women's magazines: A wide range of fashion and gossip magazines feeded into Telenor's portals as from October 2006.
