DiGi’s “Amazing Malaysians” Programme
Launched by DiGi in 2005, “Amazing Malaysians” supports the preservation of Malaysia's cultural heritage by identifying individuals who are doing outstanding work in the field and engaging them in cultural projects involving children.
Preserving the past, for the future
The programme focuses on five general areas of heritage: The natural, cultural, artistic, built and social heritage. By engaging in individual projects with young people, DiGi seeks to strengthen the knowledge, skills and crafts that belong to our cultural expression, linking Malaysia's past to its present, and to its future.
Educational programme for children and youth
In each project, an “Amazing Malaysian” works with some 50-100 children or youth for up to three months. The projects are designed to be educational for the participants and to have an element of sustainability. The idea is to create a lasting love for Malaysia’s heritage among our younger generations and, in the long run, to preserve it for the future.
Each project is "adopted" by a different department in DiGi, involving some 20 to 30 volunteers. Led by their department heads, they go out in full force to ensure the smooth implementation of their projects.
