Telenor Norway, Norwegian Red Cross, ChildMinder and the Norwegian Media Authority have formed a united front against digital bullying.

Earlier this week in Brussels Telenor Group and other major telecom companies and equipment manufacturers have agreed to reduce the electricity consumption of their broadband equipment and data centres.

Harassment on mobile phone is a pain for many children and their families. Keep the cyber bullies out with Telenor’s “bully filter”.

In five months, 500 Norwegian sports clubs have collected 171,904 used mobile phones. Never before have so many mobile phones been returned for recycling in Norway. This community effort secured more than NOK 6 million from Telenor.

Telenor Norway is launching a new security package for children – SikkertBarn – a free additional service enabling Telenor customers to prevent their children from accessing unwanted content and ditto costs on their mobile.

For several years, Telenor Group has recycled mobile phones and batteries through campaigns, collecting hundreds of thousands of handsets.

Using Magic Desktop, children can safely surf, email and play with the computer. The software is provided by Easybits and was originally launched by Telenor in 2003.

Telenor Norway has developed a filter blocking mobile and computer access to child sexual abuse content. Already adopted throughout Scandinavia, we are looking to expand the global outreach of the filter.

100,000 children are exposed to violence or witness violence in Norway. This year the Stine Sofie Foundation will receive NOK 1.6 million from Telenor to create an interactive tool to help combat violence and sexual abuse of children.
