Initiatives in Malaysia

As growing numbers young Malaysians start exploring the Internet, DiGi has launched a cohesive outreach programme that advocates safe Internet usage.

As part of its Deep Green initiative, DiGi, the Telenor Group mobile operator in Malaysia, has launched another climate initiative as it seeks to raise funds to reforest up to 120,000 square metres of the Kinabatangan forest.

DiGi donates 30,000 free text messages each month to eHomemakers, an NGO that helps Malaysian women work from home.

DiGi provides Broadband Internet access in rural underserved areas across Malaysia.

Launched in 2008 by DiGi, the Telenor mobile operator in Malaysia, Deep Green is a programme that addresses climate change. The overall aim is to reduce CO2 emissions by nearly 50 per cent over a period of 3 to 4 years.

In 2007 DiGi, the Telenor mobile operator in Malaysia, and Citibank jointly launched DiGiREMIT, a mobile banking service that enables people to transfer money from Malaysia to Bangladesh, Indonesia and the Philippines, by SMS.
