- Position: Senior Trainer, Human Resources Development Division
- Company: DiGi
- Location: dHouse, Shah Alam, Malaysia
What are your main responsibilities?
I joined DiGi‘s Human Resources Development Division in October 2008 as a senior trainer. My main responsibility in the team is identifying, sourcing or designing training programs which could be offered to DiGi employees as part of their work development plan. We have a lot of programs for our employees, both for professional and personal development, and we are putting a lot of effort in finding the right vendor.
What do you like best about DiGi?
First of all, working with people development, I see that DiGi is building individual capabilities and bringing the best out of us. That is great. The reason I started to work in DiGi, is because in this company everybody can introduce ideas that are not mainstream. DiGi is receptive of introducing new ideas and thinking out of the box, challenging conformity and norms. The ideas are welcome as long as the objective is met. I find this very stimulating and exiting. This is how I got the job in DiGi actually. I challenged the way things were done her, and now we have used and built on my idea and model for developing employees for six years!
How would you describe the work environment at DiGi?
Our work environment is open and flexible and you can sit wherever you like in the office. We call it “hot seats”. You can work anywhere as long as you are connected. It is all about flexibility; you can work anywhere at any time. I was very skeptic to this way of working before I started, but it does create energy and I must say I enjoy the freedom and flexibility. The open-plan office makes it easy to communicate and share information with both my boss and with my team. We often have meetings and presentations in new and informal settings. The work philosophy is empowering people going beyond their borders and boosts creativity. DiGi has been rated as one of the most innovative companies in Malaysia so we must do something right.
In what ways does Telenor differ from other companies?
It is great working for an international company. Things are done differently here than in any other company I have worked for. The company is taking innovative steps to be the first in the market when it comes to products and services, but is also original in relations with the employees. The way the management interact with the employees, taking a real interest in them, amazes me.
Telenor’s symbol is really living up to its representation, being in constant change. The company is exiting because it does not stagnate, there is always change and development and the philosophy are constantly revised. Telenor is a rejuvenating and energizing multinational company.
