Portraits

Portraiture has experienced a renewal of interest since the 1980s, and the Telenor Art Collection reflects this development. The collection of artistic portraits features work by artists who, in very different ways, reflect upon the portrayal of human beings.

Historic portraiture
Telenor’s collection of artistic portraits has a historic connection with the earlier portraits of former directors, painted by renowned Norwegian artists such as Erik Werenskiold and Asta Nørregaard.

Portraiture in the Art Collection
Photography is one of the most popular contemporary media for portraiture. The Telenor Art Collection has chosen to use a broad definition of the portrait. The Collection’s portraits include depictions of people, buildings, animals and flowers.
