This work is in two parts and created using diametrically different techniques. “Transition” the outdoor wall, is based on digital manipulation with the images transferred onto glass by means of silk printing. The wall is constructed from 143 plates of glass and helps to enhance the character of the outdoor environment at Fornebu.

The installation is an eight-meter long and three-meter high wall consisting of paintings in mixed media. The pictures contain text and references from various periods in art history, mainly from modernism to pop art. The paintings are treated with photographic emulsion and the pictures given a raster/ pattern on their surface, while the subject remains in the background.

”Stucco Lustro” is the name of both the work and the technique used. Stucco lustro is, in brief, a painting technique in which colours are added to a wall whilst it is wet. In his work, Mogstad expresses the relationships between painting and tradition, and between craftsmanship and modern visual media and techniques.
