Tom Gundersen has focused on making portraits of artists, particularly those who have created art that has made a personal impression upon him. Consequently, he does not work as a traditional portraitist – he doesn’t do portraits on commission. The title of the paintings is only the name of the person portrayed, but the technique and form he uses often express something that is characteristic of the artwork of the person portrayed.
