At the start of his art career diCorcia took photos that appeared to be spontaneous snapshots, though they were thoroughly planned and staged.  He later made a photo series using motifs of casual passers-by in a city, but where he had set the lighting beforehand, giving the quick passers-by a dramatic illumination and the everyday motif a magic and alien mystique. Using this technique, diCorcia photographed many cities, often naming the pictures after them, as in the two works owned by Telenor.
