Marte Aas takes landscape photographs of cities and their outskirts. She focuses on plazas, parks, gardens and other open spaces. At first sight her photos appear to have been taken spontaneously to capture the moment, but they are in fact carefully composed and planned according to well-known photographic principles, with a foreground, a middle ground and background. There is not much action in her pictures.
