Gabriel Orozco

In the series “Butterfly Effect”, Orozco explores the relationship between sculpture and photography by cutting circles out of the photographs. The effect produced is of a sensation of movement in a static picture.

Orozco’s diverse and playful output includes sculpture, photography, painting and video. Orozco’s photographs often focus on urban landscapes. He likes to place both everyday and unexpected objects in his landscapes. The result is often humorous, simultaneously stimulating the viewer’s imagination while it challenges our conventional conceptions of reality.
