Liam Gillick was born in 1964 in England, lives and works in New York. Gillick graduated from Goldsmiths College in Great Britain. He is an influential artist within “Relational Art”, which characteristically places works of art in a theoretical, social and architectonic context. This practice contrasts with the way in which art is usually presented in public spaces — in a symbolic and often autonomous manner. In 2009, Gillick exhibited in the German pavilion during the Venice Biennale.
