10 works

William Eggleston was born in 1939 in the USA. He began working with a Leica camera during his university years.  Eggleston has been very important for the development of colour photography as an artistic medium. He was influenced by a movement within artistic photography called "democratic photography", which considered that everything was worth photographing. His subjects are trivial and everyday objects and situations, many found in the vicinity of his home in the southern states of the USA.
