All her life, Hannah Ryggen was keenly interested in world events, incorporating her perspectives and comments on personal and political events into her tapestry – like this one, H.K.H Atomsen from 1952, which depicts the awesome power and threat posed by nuclear weapons. Her working method was unconventional, never making sketches or drawings before sitting at the loom, just creating a mental plan that she wove directly into her tapestry.
