Montenegro
In a country with a population of less than 700,000, Promonte has more than 450,000 subscribers, and is thus the largest mobile provider in Montenegro. After launching mobile services in 1996, Promonte quickly developed the network coverage across the country, overcoming the geographical challenges presented by the mountainous terrain of this Balkan country. Today more than 98 per cent of the inhabited territory of Montenegro has network coverage, and mobile penetration is approaching 200 per cent!
Promonte has been fully owned by Telenor since 2004. The headquarters are located in Crna Gora.
Licences and network
Promonte holds a GSM 900, a GSM 1800 and 3G licence. Promonte's GSM network has a population coverage of nearly 99 per cent with full EDGE coverage. Its 3G network currently covers over 40 per cent of the population and over the next four years, 97 per cent of the populated territory of Montenegro will be covered with 3G signals.
Services and innovation
Promonte primarily offers mobile voice, roaming, value-added services and mobile data services to its subscribers. Promonte has become a quality operator within all segments, focusing its products and services on simplicity of tariff structure and user-friendliness. Recently Promonte has launched Internet Anywhere subscriptions, offering both prepaid and contract customers easy access to Mobile Broadband Internet.
