CEOs in our Business Units
Telenor Group has mobile operations in 11 markets. The Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) are the highest-ranking corporate officers (executives) in the management of Telenor’s global business units. The CEOs are responsible for and shall ensure that the business units they manage are run and further developed in accordance with Telenor’s way of doing business; the governance and organizational culture through the Vision and Values, Codes of Conduct, Group Policies and Procedures and Leadership Expectations.
Berit Svendsen
CEO of Telenor Norway

- Appointed: 14 September 2011
Background: She joined Telenor in 1988 as a Research Scientist. From 2000 to 2005 she was Executive Vice President and CTO of Telenor and also working Chair of Telenor R&D. In January 2005 she took up the position as Vice President and Head of Telenor Nordic Fixed with overall responsibility for the fixed network business in Norway. From 2002 to 2007 Berit Svendsen was a member of the European Commission / IST Advisory Group. She joined Conax as CEO in May 2008.
Education: Berit Svendsen holds an MSc in Electronics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (1988), and a Master of Technology Management from NTNU and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA (1995).
Lars-Åke Norling
CEO of Telenor Sweden

- Appointed: 15 April 2009
Background: Norling joined Bredbandsbolaget in 1999, where he held various senior positions. In 2006 Norling was appointed Head of Telenor Sweden’s fixed network and a year later he took on the position as CTO of Telenor Sweden. Since April 2009, he has served as CEO of Telenor Sweden.
Education: MBA from the School of Business, Gothenburg, a Master of Science degree in Engineering Physics, Uppsala University, and a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from USA.

Marek Slacik
CEO of Telenor Denmark

- Appointed: 1 September 2012
Background: Marek has worked as Telenor Serbia’s Chief Marketing Officer since July 2009. He has 10 years of telecommunications leadership experience, working for start-ups, market challengers, as well as established operators, including Vodafone, Telefónica O2 and Telenor.
Education: Master degree in business administration at the University of Economics in Prague, Czech.
Christopher Laska
CEO of Telenor Hungary

- Appointed: 18 January 2011
Background: Prior to his appointment to CEO of Telenor Hungary in January 2011, Christopher Laska had served as CEO of Telenor Montenegro since 2009. He has also worked as the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer in Telenor Serbia. In addition, he has served as Project Director M&A in Telenor International Mobile, Country Manager for Telenor in Pakistan and Hungary and Business Development & Strategy Director in Telenor in Hungary (Pannon GSM).
Education: Bachelor of Science with honours in Business Management from Bradford University Management Centre in the UK, as well as a post-graduate degree from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in London.

Ove Fredheim
CEO of Telenor Serbia

- Appointed: 1 September 2012
Background: Ove Fredheim comes from Telenor Group Headquarters, where he was heading the Markets unit within the Group Industrial Development for the past three years. Prior to that, Fredheim served as CEO, Telenor Hungary, from 2003 to 2009. Fredheim has been with Telenor for 20 years and has held several management positions.
Fredheim is member of the Board of Directors in Telenor Norway.
Education: Bachelor Degree from Oslo School of Business Administration.
Jon Eddy Abdullah
CEO of dtac, Thailand

- Appointed: 1 March 2011
Background: Prior his current position as CEO of dtac, Jon Eddy Abdullah was CEO of Telenor Pakistan in 2008. From 2002 – 2007, he was Chief Technology Officer of DiGi Telecom.
Education: Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Montana State University, USA.
Henrik Clausen
CEO of DiGi, Malaysia

- Appointed: 17 May 2010
Background: Henrik Clausen has served as CEO of Telenor in Denmark from 2005 to 2010. Prior to this, Clausen worked as CEO in the Danish broadband provider Cybercity from 2000 to 2005.
Education: MBA from INSEAD, a Master in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and a degree in foreign trade from Copenhagen Business School.

Vivek Sood
CEO of Grameenphone,
Bangladesh

- Appointed: 7 January 2013
Background: Mr. Vivek Sood comes from the position as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Indian mobile operator Uninor. His 22 year of experience also include executive positions in companies like Tata AIG life Insurance, Hutchison Telecom, Tupperware India and Hindustan Lever Limited (Unilever).

Lars Christian Iuel
CEO of Telenor Pakistan

- Appointed: 1 November 2011
Background: Lars Christian Iuel came from the position as Head of Marketing at Telenor Group’s Asia office in Bangkok. Prior to that, he worked three years as the Chief Marketing Officer of Telenor Pakistan. He has a diverse international background, both from different positions in Telenor and from Cell One in Namibia.
Education: Cand Merc from the University of Aalborg, Denmark.

Yogesh Malik
CEO of Uninor, India

- Appointed: 2 May 2013
Background: Erstwhile Head of Operations in Uninor and Chief Executive Officer. He has more than 17 years of extensive telecom experience from some of Telenor Group’s most dynamic markets. Before joining Uninor, he was Head of Technology and Sourcing in Telenor Group Corporate Development. He has also served as CTO of Kyivstar in Ukraine and CTO of Grameenphone in Bangladesh. His extensive career in the telecom industry also includes experience from AT&T, Tata and Ericsson in India and for the international mobile operator TIW (today known as Vodafone) in Canada, China, Brazil and the Czech Republic.
Education: Engineering Degree in Electronics from MSU University, Baroda and is an Executive MBA graduate from IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland.
